Missionary Care Package Ideas

If you’ve ever been a missionary or you have someone that you love serving a mission, you know how much it means to receive mail and care packages. Being far away from your family and having limited contact can definitely be a struggle, but getting some love in the mail makes everything a little bit sweeter!

Looking for some inspiration for your next missionary care package? Take a look at some of our favorite go-to’s when putting together packages for your missionary that they’re sure to love!

Holiday Themes

Perhaps one of the easiest care package ideas is to base it off of an upcoming holiday. Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, or Independence Day, there are tons of different directions you could take by sending holiday-themed care packages.

Include some little decorations that they can hang around their apartment, special holiday foods, and maybe even some special clothing to go along with the season. A patriotic dress or turkey tie? It doesn’t get better than that!

Everything One Color

Another great way to go is making everything in your package one color. Choose their favorite color or use this for multiple car packages and work your way through the rainbow. Here are some good ways to start:

  • Red: Hot Tamales, Cinnamon Bears, Doritos, Skittles, Coca Cola
  • Blue: Oreos, gum, Powerade, Chex Mix, Airheads
  • Yellow: Lemonheads, Peanut M&M’s, Golden Oreos, Lays
  • Green: Apple Jacks, Nature Valley bars, sour cream and onion Pringles, green jello
  • Orange: Reese’s, Cheetos, Goldfish, Peachy Oh’s, Slim Jims
  • Pink: Mike and Ike’s, Vitamin Water, Mentos, Twizzlers, Starbursts
  • Purple: Boom Chicka Pop, Nerds, Fanta, BBQ Pringles, Takis

Layer other items in, like a new journal, article of clothing, writing utensils, and anything else you can find that will fit the color scheme. There’s a big variety of missionary gifts from Seagull Book, find something in the color you’re sending and throw it in!

Favorite Snacks and Treats

Everyone likes getting their favorite food and treats on a hard day, including your missionary. Consider their favorite foods and what you could send them. You could also send a handful of gift cards to some of their favorite fast-food restaurants that are in their area for a last-minute meal. Keep in mind that this will vary depending on where they’re serving.

Pampering Kit

They’re walking all day, sometimes in the crazy heat. They can definitely use some pampering, making this an easy idea to go with for a care package!

For a sister missionary, throw in a face mask, nail polish, a yummy candle, some body wash, and a scrub brush. For an elder, include a high-quality razor, body wash, and some of their favorite non-perishable snacks.

Every missionary deserves a little extra love every now and then, but coming up with care package ideas can be a little tricky. Take advantage of some of our favorite care package ideas and get ready to send your missionary something that they’ll love!
